Inaugural BBQ fundraiser A Huge Success!
September 21st 2008 marked the first annual Kent Democratic Committee barbecue at Ryan's Field. Democrats from around the area gathered for a day of fine fare and great musical entertainment. Participants enjoyed traditional BBQ fare, along with special dishes prepared by committee members
which included Joyce Mitchell's famous chili! Parents danced to the sounds of classic rock and role while children enjoyed the playground, ball field, and nature trail. Speical guests included Assemblywoman Sandra Galef, Putnam County Election Commissioner Robert Bennett, and Putnam County Democratic Committee Chair Lynn Ekardt.
Residents also had an opportunity to chat with Jerry Furey, candidate for Kent Town Board. Joe D'Ambrosio,candidate for Putnam County Legislator District 5, was unable to attend due to a death in the family but was well represented by his many supporters as was Jerry.
The day was topped off with a silent auction which included professional massages, a gourmet meal cooked in your home, tutoring sessions, and a basket of cheer!
